PatchQuest is an automated, patch management software for distributing
and managing patches, security hotfixes and updates across heterogeneous
networks comprising of Windows, Red Hat Linux and Debian Linux systems,
in just a few simple clicks.
What are the components of PatchQuest patch management
solution ?
PatchQuest solution comprises of 4 major components
- the External Patch Crawler & Central Patch Repository residing
in the AdventNet site and PatchQuest Server and PatchQuest Agent
(optional) residing in the enterprise site.
What products and applications does PatchQuest manage patches
for ?
PatchQuest manages patches for Windows, Red Hat Linux and Debian
Linux operating systems. Supported Windows operating systems are
: Windows 2003 Server, XP Professional, 2000 Server and Professional,
NT Workstation and Server and applications are : IIS, IE, SQL Server,
MDAC, Media Player, .NET Framework, MSXML, DirectX and MS Office.
Supported Linux operating systems are : Debian 3.0 & Red Hat
Linux 7.2, 8.0, 9.0, AS 2.1 & 3.0, ES 2.1 & 3.0
Does PatchQuest support patches in international languages
?
Yes. Support for international language patches is available
from release 4.2 (build 4200 and higher).

How do you get information about the latest patches ?
The External Patch Crawler
module of the PatchQuest solution repeated probes the internet to
obtain patch related information from various sources mainly vendor
websites. It also subscribes to e-mail alerts and RSS feeds from
these websites from where the latest information about patches is
obtained.
How does the PatchQuest Server installed in the enterprise,
be in sync with the latest patch and vulnerability information ?
The PatchQuest Server will periodically download the the latest
patch and vulnerability database from the Central Repository server
which is a portal in the AdventNet site, and use the information
as a baseline for its patch management operations.
Can I use PatchQuest to manage systems that are behind
a firewall or in a DMZ ?
Yes, you can. PatchQuest's optional agent architecture allows you
this flexibility. You can install a PatchQuest agent in a system
that is behind a firewall, with port 9001 (default) open in the
firewall and then manage this system using PatchQuest.
Do I need any prerequisite software to be installed before
using PatchQuest ?
There is no prerequisite software installation required to use
PatchQuest.
