Patches are downloaded from the respective vendor sites and stored in the PatchQuest server. Required patches are then pushed to the target machines, deployed and then deleted from the target machines after the task is completed successfully.
During deployment, PatchQuest server will first check if a particular patch is downloaded and available locally. If yes, this patch will be used for deployment in the target systems. If not, it will first initiate a download request, download the patch from net and store it locally, before proceeding with the deployment task.
Downloading of patches from the external site, can be done even before initiating the patch deployment process. This is done by :
and clicking on the 'Download' button in the view.
On selecting the patches and clicking the Download button, you will be prompted with 2 options :
The status of the download can be intimated by e-mail to any e-mail address (ideally the administrator's e-mail ID) that is configured here. Enter any number of e-mail addresses in the text-field provided; separated by comma. A report will be sent to those IDs when the download task is completed.
By default, the downloaded patches are stored in the PatchQuest Server installation, in the following location : <PatchQuestServer_Install_Dir>/AdventNet/SecureCentral/PatchQuest/store. This location is configurable.
A probable cause for failures in downloading patches is that the vulnerability database in the PatchQuest server, is not in sync with the latest information available. Please update the vulnerability database and retry the download process. For more information, refer to Troubleshooting Tips or contact support@patchquest.com
