Clicking on the Patch Name link in the Scan
Result view or Patch Information view, will
display the complete information about the patch.
Important Details
- Location Path - The URL from where the patch can be downloaded from the
internet
- Language - the OS Language to which a patch is associated to
- Reboot Information - If a reboot of a system is required or not for
the patch to be successfully installed
- Microsoft KB ID - A unique knowledge base ID provided by Microsoft ID for
Windows patches, with a link to the article on the internet
- Superseding Bulletin / Advisory ID - The bulletin that has a patch which
supersedes this patch
- Package Details (for Linux) - The package name which is affected by this
patch, release and version number and group name
- CVE ID - The unique ID specified by CVE
that is associated to the vulnerability that this patch fixes. If available, this is a link to the CVE name(s) associated with
the vulnerability. CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) is a list of common names for publicly known vulnerabilities and exposures.
The CVE Editorial board determines which vulnerabilities or exposures are included in
CVE, through open and collaborative discussions. If the CVE name starts with CAN (candidate), then it is under consideration for entry into CVE.
- BUGTRAQ ID - The unique ID specified by SecurityFocus
(an online vulnerability database) that is associated to the vulnerability
that this patch fixes
Affected Products list
A list of all the products or applications which are affected by this patch
(along with the Service Pack version numbers in the case of Windows)
User Comments
Comments provided by a user or administrator about a particular patch, can be
viewed here. Existing comments can be edited or new comments can be included.
Information for Linux Patches
Check Details
This section of the Patch Details view for a Linux patch, displays the
application name and version number to be checked to determine the
availability status. If this application version check matches while scanning
for vulnerabilities, the patch is considered to be installed - missing
otherwise.
Dependent Patches list
This list displays all the other patches that a particular patch is
dependent on. Meaning if this patch needs to be installed, all the dependent
patches need to be installed as well. Patch interdependencies during patch
deployment are handled automatically by PatchQuest.
Dependent Packages
The packages that are dependent on the application that is affected by this
patch
